Are the professor layton games good?

I was thinking of getting a dsi xl so that I can play them because the puzzles seem interesting also I want to play the mario bros game and the 2 zelda games. Are these reasons good enough for me to get a dsi xl for �139 also I live in the UK and dont plan on paying �230 for a nintendo 3ds when they are released in a week or so
